Am I the only one who finds it odd that they not only didn't feel the need to expand their playable character selection (they have more then enough for an impressive roster) in Black Knight but you can't even play the multiplayer unless someone else is playing with you. Who's idea was it not to include an option to fight the computer?

I noticed that as well. They did include a computer in the Multiplayer mode in Sonic and the Secret Rings, why couldn't they include one for Sonic and the Black Knight as well?

It made no sense for such a backtraking train of thought like that to actually happen.

Not only is it weird... it makes zero sense. In order for that to even be possible someone would've had to have the conscious decision NOT to make it playable unless someone else was there and you had a second controller.

What do you mean? Not having any access to the multiplayer because I lack both a second wii-remote and a person to play with most of the time is a perfectly valid complaint. I can't even touch the multiplayer or see what it's like or decide whether or not I would enjoy it simply because they wanted to make it strictly 2-Player and not have an option to play against the computer.

That's a very valid and perfectly good thing to complain about. I'm not hard to please at all as it's not hard to include an option like that as they've done it with every other Sonic game there was a multiplayer mode in.
